Patience
When you are working with Freenet, please have patience!
If you just started Freenet, and no thumbnails are showing up on the gateway page, wait for at least 30 minutes! When starting and your node is running for the first time, your new Freenet node has to learn about the network and other nodes, so it can take some hours before it's at 'full speed'.
There are several ways to do this:
- If you like irc, there is the freenet irc channel: irc.freenode.net #freenet (lots of the developers hang out there)
- If you want to chat with publishers/users, maby IIP (anonymous chat) is more the thing for you. (www.invisiblechat.com/ on #freenet) If your problem is not to complicated, someone in there should be able to help you out.
(If you use irc, in any case, you should just ask your question, don't do a "Hi, I have a problem, anyone here?". Because you proberly won't get an answer. If you ask, and anyone knows the answer, you probably will get it. And the chans are quite quiet sometimes. Give people time to answer you; 10-15 is not too long.) Remember: patience!
- If none of those suggestions did you any good, maybe you can email directly to the people that are involved in the project, such as Ian, Toad or Newsbyte, etc. (see maillist on www.freenetproject.org). But those people are busy bees doing stuff on/for Freenet, so only ask if it's important and you've tried all of the above methods first! :-)
